Christian de Goede – Consultant Paediatric Neurologist
Christian is passionate about services for children with neurodisability, and is the lead for the regional tone management service. Christian and his team were awarded the 2016 Quality award, category working together, by the Lancashire Teaching hospitals NHS Trust. He has established a multidisciplinary neuromuscular service for children in Lancashire, linking in closely with the North West Adult and Paediatric Neuromuscular Network, which recently received the Muscular Dystrophy UK Network of Excellence award.
Looking after children and young people with long term conditions, he is keen to further develop transition services. He was a 2016 Young Epilepsy Champion Finalist for leading the work on transition for young people with epilepsy in Lancashire. Working with the business development unit, he is looking at improving the care for adolescents across the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Christian has been a clinical lead in the Strategic Clinical Network since 2014. He is keen to progress transition across the region, and more recently has been appointed lead for the Paediatric Sustainability and Transformation Programme (STP) in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
While primarily a clinician, he has a keen interest in research, especially more clinical research, relating to paediatric neurology and neurodisability. He works in close collaboration with local universities, but also through national contacts like the North Star network. He was recently rewarded an i4i grant worth nearly £500k for a project in collaboration with UCLAN.
